Our STORY
Vahe took the leap of faith in 2023 and founded Apricot Electronics Limited. After 20+ years of experience on the tools, combined with the knowledge acquired from his university degrees, 10+ years of professional engineering experience and many hands-on special interests (including AC/DC TIG welding and 3D printing), he felt it was time to put his skills to the ultimate test and make something truly special.
Operating out of Lancaster in the North-West of England, Apricot Electronics not only serves as a creative outlet for Vahe, but also provides him with a framework to pass on his knowledge. His long-term goals for the company are to provide the ultimate resource for customers who have an idea for a product but lack the technical know-how to create it, and to create a company environment where employees feel appreciated, recognised and always have the necessary training and resources to carry out their job.
Vahe is obsessed with designing, making and modifying things. As a child he was inseparable from his LEGO, and used it to make his own creations for hours at a time. As a teenager he was particularly fond of woodworking, so after leaving school he completed an apprenticeship in Bench Joinery where he learned the art of working with a variety of different timbers to make items such as staircases, counters and cabinets.
Circumstances necessitated a change in career, so he decided to go to University to study Engineering. Vahe studied Electronic & Computer Engineering at HND level, passing the course with distinction and winning a prize for outstanding academic achievement. He continued on to complete his Bachelor of Engineering and graduated with first-class honours. Following a year in industry, Vahe decided to go back to University to complete a Master of Science in Microelectronics and System-on-Chip Engineering.
Vahe’s professional engineering career has been very interesting, starting with experience designing to conform to the ATEX Directive, and using environmental chambers to test products and validate prototypes. He has had the great fortune to work on many exciting commercial projects, such as the smallest PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera in the world (no doubt there is a smaller one out now!), Counter-UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) products which are deployed around the world protecting critical infrastructure, and a ship-to-ship lifting system which has made offshore lifting safer and more efficient. Vahe has also worked on many UK and EU grant-funded research projects in collaboration with partners including the police, fire brigade and the NHS.
